The Just a Card – Indie Week campaign is challenging people to avoid the ‘big boys’ this Black Friday (29 November) and shop small, supporting independent businesses across the UK.
This is something that is close to our hearts. As a team of five we rely on sales from our lovely customers to keep our small independent business going – and growing!
The Just a Card campaign began when Artist and Designer Sarah Hamilton read a quote by gallery owners whose business had been forced to close:
“If everyone who’d complimented our beautiful gallery had bought ‘just a card’ we’d still be open”.
It was a call to action. Every sale however small, even just a card, is the difference between a vibrant creative community or boarded up businesses.
This year the organisers want to shine a spotlight on Black Friday, challenging people to think beyond the usual suspects for Christmas gifts and consider supporting independent shops, artists, makers and small businesses such as ours. By doing so, you are funding a wealth of people who can continue doing the work they love while finding a unique gift at the same time!
We are so pleased to be taking part and while we’re still offering a seasonal discount (hint, join our mailing list to get it!) we want to shout from the rooftops that by shopping small you are making a difference, even if it is by purchasing ‘just a card’.
Thank you for supporting us by taking the time to read this post!
